Alyssa Pitman is an artist questioning how to be more awake and connected. How can one know something more intimately? Looking at where the rhythm of the body meets the rhythm of the earth, when the mind, body, and the world are aligned. Holding process and making as a ritual, breathing in to perceive and breathing out to express, creating wholeness, her work strives to extend perception for herself and the viewer. Working from ideas reflecting the disconnection in nature, to knowing that everything is connected, Alyssa questions her learned tools and languages, through movement, textures, and the sensuous. What could provide a spontaneous moment where one could experience something differently? How can one re-imagine the unimaginable and feel connection to the subtle interactions of the ecosystem?
