    Artist Statement

I am interested in landscape and it’s relationship to modern life. As we move through our lives, we pass by the land, and interact with it. One cannot avoid that this experience is always in relation to the man made. It is this relationship that I am interested in and drives me to explore the land around us. I photograph the great mountains that lay just outside of car windows, the forest’s that surround our office and apartment buildings, and the jungles that make up our front yards: these are the great landscapes of our time.

The land around us is seen through the structures we have constructed. These primarily architectural forms share similar designs to natural structures. The way blinds over lap can be seen as congruent with the way leaves on a tree cover the trunk. The carve of a mountain can be seen in the C pillar of a car. Together with nature, these structures create a hybrid landscape. This hybrid landscape is the focus of my work.
