    Thesis Abstract

My thesis is a multi-voiced fiction novel based on my grandmother’s story of growing up in interwar Lithuania, escaping Soviet occupation, surviving on the run in wartime Germany, and finally traveling on a troop ship to the United States where she has spent the bulk of her life. It mirrors my own reverse migration in response to hearing my grandmother’s stories throughout my life. The section included details my earliest understanding of what it means to be a Lithuanian.
