    Artist Statement

Over the past two years my work has involved various photographic investigations of violence and the traumatic experience of others. Most recently I have been working closely with one individual, Katy Ebbert, on a body of photographs, texts, and ephemera that overlap between her own recounting of her life, my interactions with her, and my reactions to her testimony. Through this investigation I am confronting the space between my own mediated, culturally informed understanding of violence, and the lived experiences of Katy herself. Additionally the work explores the inevitable slippage and osmosis of cultural myths into Katy’s narrative.
